Out of Sorts

Alan and I decided to hit RC Willey's on Black Friday because they had a really good deal on a table we considered buying. Well, one thing lead to another and we ended up buying a new mattress (which we did in fact need). With Alan's art desk in our room we decided to go down to a queen size bed (see Alan's post) so we could have a little more space, which meant...we had to get a new bed too. And since we were at it...we might as well get the bedroom set, right?

Anyway, in preparing for the new bed, we moved out the old bed and computer desk. We had one of those vinyl floor pads so our chair could swirl around on the floor and when we removed it we noticed how beautifully cream colored our carpet was. The remaining carpet was, well let's just say a little less pretty. The difference was so overwhelming that we of course had to get the carpets cleaned and since we were cleaning the carpets in the bedroom...we might as well clean the carpets in the whole house right?

Which meant we had to remove all the furniture in the master bedroom and living room. All this rambling leading to the point that we did this about 1.5 weeks ago and I'm still out of sorts. I have no idea where to put everything that used to go in my computer desk and I don't even have my computer set up anymore. I have totes and boxes full of stuff that I don't know how important it is. I can't find a thing I am looking for and the kids have been disappointed every day for the last 8 days because I don't have the advent calendar ready for them to pick out of. (It is traditional that they get to take turns picking out a note saying what special thing they get to do that day). I even (gasp) was late on two bills because I didn't find them soon enough in my "to do" pile. Man, do places hit you with fees for being one day late! Oh and if you ever find yourself in this situation just call them and sweetly ask them to remove the fee. Since I haven't been late in years, they kindly removed the $29 late fee for me.

Work is overwhelming as well as some personal stuff I am dealing. I feel like I need to take a day off just to put my house and self back in order, but my only substitute is now working as an overflow instructor and thus there are no vacation or sick days for me in sight.

So, point being, I hope everyone is patient as I try to put all of the pieces in my house and life back together. Then I will upload the photos I have been taking into my computer to show some of the funner things we have been doing.
