A Few Photos From CDE's 9th Birthday

As mentioned in a previous post, we spent half of the kids' birthday driving in the car back from St. George. But before we left St. George we stopped at the Dinosaur Museum that they built out in the city of Washington over a rather large finding of dinosaur tracks. It was quite a large display and I was somewhat surprised. It seems to be run mostly by volunteers so the price was quite reasonable ($2.50 for kids, $3 for adults).

See the Dino Print?

This large piece of sandstone is full of tiny prints

An impression of a T-Rex footprint (not found at this site)

Caylee is 9!

Dylan is 9!

Emily is 9!

Upon our return home, we called up my brother and mother for a quick little BBQ and then opened up presents. It was not quite as thrilling a day as last year, but the kids we happy with their presents and the day in general. I felt guilty about not spending days working on their cakes, as I have in the past. This year I made ice cream cakes. Delicious, but not quite as impressive as the cakes I used to get as a child or the ones I made before I started working full time. Oh well. It's the taste that counts right? They did get to at least pick out their favorite flavors.

We're a family that doesn't like cake so I'm interested in how you made your ice cream cakes. We're always looking for something non-cakish. We even tried to do a fake cake for Jen's wedding but was told that cost more so I guess we'll be boring traditionalists. We hope you come and eat lots of cake!

Don't count on us eating lots of cake. If you recall, we had a tiered cheese"cake" at our wedding. My only regret with the cheesecake was that I had to share it, and only got ONE piece!
