Misty Eyed First Day of School

Today is CDE & F’s first day back to school. CDE are in 4th grade, and Fox is starting 1st. I was able to take the day off to get them ready for school and be there when they get out at 1:00. I got them all to class, and then had this overpowering feeling to just want to stand there. But then, who’s classroom do I stand in? I went back at least twice to each of the three different classrooms, and upon entering Caylee and Dylan’s classroom for the third time, Caylee leaned over to Dylan and said, “What’s Mom doing here again?” Feeling somewhat rejected from my older kids, I fought the feeling to go back to Fox’s classroom. I don’t want to be one of the parents that hover. I left the school peaking quickly into Fox’s classroom window as I exited misty eyed. Really, it shouldn’t be this hard to leave your kids, right? Sending Fox to Kindergarten was difficult, but for some reason this year was just as hard. I hope he adjusts better than I did.

They all look so cute… especially their hair! :) I can imagine it would be difficult to send your “baby” off to full day school… that seems SO far away for me. 4th grade makes the kids sound so old… when did that happen?!?

I just sent LeA to start her Jr year and Jay to start 8th grade. It doesn't get any easier but I'm not sure why. They think and act like they can do so well without me... and they can for a good part. For me, the first day of school is a reminder that another year will speed by and that"s sad to me.

They look so cute. You do a little better job of doing there hair than Alan does. I'm glad they had a good first day.
