Our Garden

This year Alan and I decided we would forgo our garden. With both of us working full time, it just didn't seem plausible. That all changed when Alan made friends with an older neighbor who's garden is to die for. We stopped by his house last Sunday and Alan actually got out his tape recorder to make sure he didn't miss a bit of gardening wisdom (yes, I married a geek!). This man's tomato plants get over 6 feet tall and remain delicious! Alan was inspired. Although Alan had already bought his tomato plants, we moved them out from the back of the flower bed to the garden area that we were deciding what to do with. I believe Alan had 18!!! tomato plants, but after giving a few away, and getting a few more from the neighbor we are at 14. Never mind the fact that I don't like tomatoes and Alan and I agreed last year that the 6 plants we planted last year were too many :). So, if any one likes tomatoes, we should have just a few extra.

So, our plans for the garden area have taken many forms. We'll see what we eventually do with this space. The most desired plan we had for the area was a waterfall. But after getting a few bids we decided it was out of our budget. We also considered another patio area, raised beds, grassing it over, and several other ideas. Right now we have settled on adding some paths and we have already purchased the arbors that will be used as an entrance. I'll have to post some pictures as the area goes through this metamorphosis.
